If it was easy to be cool, no one would be cool.

Some people just like to buy a finished vehicle and expect life to be hassle free, some people have a vision and want to create the thing that fulfills it. I guess its true of all things, I dont draw or paint but I will buy drawings and paintings that I like to put on my wall.

I imagine every form of creating something comes with its own frustrations and hertrtache. It's probably easy to dwell on these things but many projects and head aches down the line I dont think I do, theres no point.

My almost finished Mustang was just about ready for it's MOT last week in plenty of time to have a couple of weeks shakedown before streetweekend. On its initial setting up test drives it had a little issue, obviously Gavin from autoglass couldnt resolve this so the MOT got delayed till Friday. Half way to the MOT the transmission started making a horrible squealing noise, it was a used gearbox I bought a couple of years ago early in the project.

All this made me think of a post by a guy from the states who I follow on insta, I like reading his thoughts on the world, his name on social media is The_realboomboom if you want to look him up.

If creating cool things didnt come with problems then it would be easy and everyone would do it, then nothing would be cool.

Stratford Motoring Festival

This bank holiday weekend I was meant to be taking my freshly finished Mustang drag and drive car to Stratford Motoring Festival. However, as I'll explain in a later post, the Mustang wasnt quite ready.

It's been a scorchio weekend so we decided that maybe it wasnt the worst thing in the world that we wouldnt be spending the whole day in Stratford with the car having to stay in place till 4 so just had a ride in on the bike for a walk about, look round and then a scenic ride home with a pint.

Took a few pics of things I liked, dissapointlingly I didnt see any motorbikes, I may just not of walked down that street though.

It was good to get out on the XJR for a bit too as it is off to its new home and I've got a replacement XJR on the way.

This fantastic charger with an interior by MPH, looked impeccible.

Anyone who knows me will know I love orange vehicles and the trans am look inparticular.

Is there a 67 fastback that isnt Bullit green?

I thought this was a clever idea.

Starting a blog like its 2008

What on earth is he thinking, starting a blog in 2026.  Well, I’ve recently been wondering if I’m suffering from nostalgia or if things really were better back in the day. The enshitification* of the internet is a particularly noticeable example.

We lost Blogs and forums to what initially seemed like the nicer, more convenient, better connected social media options. I, like many people I guess, used Facebook to keep in touch with people I knew and Instagram to find new communities and share pics of events and the progress of my projects.

Over time these became just a way of companies serving us up more and more adverts, I think the act of using social media changed the way a lot of people went about things and a cool experience wasn’t cool unless you had the pic for the gram.

I recently spent an evening looking over some of the blogs I read often, sometimes daily, back in the day and thought about how different it all was. Some of my favourites were Eat The Rich, 747 rider, Chvrch of Choppers, Chopper Daves Loud Fast Rules, Sideburn Mag.

Some of these updated once a week, some daily, some less regularly an array of content about bike builds, events, races, tools, history, poetry, just cool stuff and sharing a culture among a community.

This Blog might just be a cathartic way of me shouting into the void, or maybe some people will read it and enjoy it and maybe discover something new.

What will it be about, well, stuff I do so Bikes, cars, racing, shows, general arsing about and stuff I find interesting. Stuff it won’t have, AI.

I thought we'd best start with a period correct pic.
